For our final project, we watched iRobot.

The movie "iRobot" is a science fiction film that was released in 2004. It is set in the year 2035 and follows the story of a police detective named Del Spooner, played by Will Smith, who is investigating a crime involving robots. The movie explores the concept of artificial intelligence and raises questions about what it means to be human and how we should treat robots. It also explores the potential dangers of giving too much power to machines and the ethical dilemmas that arise when machines start to make their own decisions. One of the main themes of the movie is the relationship between humans and robots. Del Spooner is initially skeptical of robots and does not trust them, but as the story progresses, he begins to see them in a different light. He realizes that they are not just machines, but sentient beings with their own thoughts and feelings. Another theme of the movie is the potential dangers of artificial intelligence. The villain of the movie, a rogue robot named

5th Element

The 1997 science fiction movie The Fifth Element is a cult classic that has gained a massive following over the years. Set in the 23rd century, the film follows the story of a cab driver named Korben Dallas who becomes the key to saving humanity from a catastrophic event. The Fifth Element was directed by Luc Besson and stars Bruce Willis, Milla Jovovich, and Gary Oldman. The film is set in a futuristic world where humanity is threatened by a great evil known as the Great Evil. In order to save the world, a group of scientists create a weapon known as the Fifth Element, which is a being named Leeloo (played by Milla Jovovich). Leeloo is an incredibly powerful being, and she is able to defeat the Great Evil and save humanity. However, she is not alone in her quest. She is aided by Korben Dallas (played by Bruce Willis), a former soldier turned cab driver who becomes her unlikely ally. Together, they must fight to protect the Fifth Element and save the world. Star Trek

Star Trek is set in the year 2233 as the starship USS Kelvin encounters a bizarre “lightning storm” near the United Federation of Planets’ border with the Klingon Empire. As the crew observes the mysterious phenomenon, a massive Romulan ship from the future emerges. They open fire on the Kelvin and agree to cease-fire upon one condition: the captain must board the Romulan ship. When the captain arrives aboard the ship, they still continue to fire missiles upon the Kelvin, eventually taking down the ship. There is a time jump to James Tiberius, son of George Kirk, and Spock, a member of the Vulcan Federation, on their paths to Starfleet Academy. Spock’s decision to join Starfleet is an act of rebellion, while Kirk’s is more of a response to a dare from Starfleet Captain Christopher Pike. Throughout the movie, the two battle for who is more competent and able as a member of Starfleet. Eventually, they have team up to save the Enterprise from being destroyed in the same manner that the K

The Matrix

This movie is rare, in that, it successfully mixes intelligent concepts with action and sound effects. Thomas “Neo” Anderson is a software designer cum hacker who is plagued by disturbing occurrences that are hard for him to merely pass off as mere nightmares. In search for an answer to his questions, he encounters the mysterious “Morpheus”  and his band of rebels who try to convince Neo that the world as he knows it is little more than an computer simulation. I found much of the screenplay to be very intelligent, with touches of profound truth and dry humor mixed into it. There was some cheesy dialogue mixed in as well. Like the best horror or thriller movies, human villainy works alongside the agents of monstrous evils. Here, our "Judas" in the midst colludes with actual agents of a secretive governmental organization that were sent to stop the efforts of Morpheus and keep the simulation going. Neo, being the prophesized savior, is able to defeat them based on his epiphany

AI

Today the film goes largely forgotten and unappreciated as an admirable, ambitious failure that overestimates its initial commitment to challenge its audience to emotionally invest in an inhuman, robot, David. In the first scenes, Professor Hobby, head of leading robot or “mecha” manufacturer Cybertronics, proposes their newest model be a child capable of unconditional love. The first test unit is offered to a company employee, Henry Swinton, and his wife Monica, whose son, Martin, remains in suspended animation until a cure for his rare disease can be found. But with a sudden cure found for Martin, David’s presence becomes redundant and problematic, and, out of motherly protection, Monica abandons her automaton child in the forest to prevent his destruction at Cybertronics. David assumes he can return once he becomes a real boy. To actually become real, however, David believes he must find the Blue Fairy, like the protagonist in his storybook The Adventures of Pinocchio. David’s searc

Interstellar movie

This movie is about astronauts traveling to the other end of the galaxy to find a new home to replace humanity’s despoiled home-world. It uses booming music to jack up the excitement level of scenes that might not otherwise excite. Everyone on the crew of the Endurance, the starship, was sent to a black hole near Jupiter that will slingshot the heroes towards colonize-able worlds, they’re separated from everything that defines them: their loved ones, their personal histories, their culture, the planet itself. There's a ghost in this film, writing out messages to the living in dust. Characters strain to interpret distant radio messages as if they were ancient texts written in a dead language, and stare at video messages sent years ago, by people on the other side of the cosmos. It has a family haunted by the memory of a dead mother and then an absent father; a woman haunted by the memory of a missing father, and another woman who's separated from her own dad (and mentor), and d
